Resolv Engine

Getting started

What is an AI browser assistant?

An AI browser assistant is software that runs inside your browser, can read the page you are currently viewing, and can carry out requested tasks either through connected app APIs or through the website interface itself.

The short definition

A chatbot answers from its training data and whatever you paste into it. An AI browser assistant is different in one decisive way: it has context and it has hands. It sees the tab you are working in, and it can reach your own data in the apps you connected, then do something with it.

  • Context: the page you are on, plus the files you attach to the conversation.
  • Reach: structured operations in connected services such as Gmail, Google Drive, Notion or Slack.
  • Action: filling a form, following a flow or posting a message when you ask for it.
  • Boundaries: per-operation permissions that decide what runs automatically and what waits for you.

The four categories people confuse

CategoryWhere it runsWhat it can reach
ChatbotA website or appOnly what you paste in
Browser assistantA browser side panelCurrent page, attachments, connected apps
AI browserA separate browser buildEverything in that browser
Autonomous agentA server or virtual machineWhatever it was given credentials for

resolvenengine sits in the second row. It is a Chrome side panel, so your existing browser, profile, extensions and sessions stay exactly as they are.

Why the difference matters in practice

The category decides three things you will feel every day: how much you have to re-explain your context, how much clicking remains, and how much control you keep over consequential actions.

  1. 1You ask in plain language, in the tab you already have open.
  2. 2The assistant chooses a structured connector operation when one exists, because it is faster and more reliable than clicking.
  3. 3If no direct operation exists, it works through the supported website interface instead.
  4. 4Anything consequential stops for your approval unless you explicitly allowed it.

Frequently asked questions

Is an AI browser assistant the same as an AI browser?
No. An AI browser replaces your browser. An assistant like resolvenengine is an extension inside Chrome, so your profile, sessions and other extensions stay untouched.
Does it need my passwords?
No. Connections use each provider's own sign-in and permission screen, and credentials stay on the backend rather than in the conversation.
