Slack integration
Look up the channel you need, read recent messages or a thread, resolve who wrote them, and post a message when you explicitly ask for it.
The Slack connector can list public and private channels visible to the app, read recent channel history and thread replies, list members and resolve a member by email. These operations let a conversation summarise a project channel or find a colleague without scraping the Slack web interface. Private channels appear only when the installed app has been invited.
Writes include posting a new message or thread reply and, when the separately requested management scopes are present, creating or joining a public channel. The basic released bot scopes cover channel and message reads, member lookup and chat posting. Editing, deletion, reactions and private-channel self-joining are not advertised. Every send needs explicit intent and the configured approval policy.
Use synthetic or your authorised account data, then review the returned result in the conversation.
“Summarise the last 20 messages in the project channel and identify open decisions.”
“Read the thread attached to this Slack message timestamp.”
“Find the workspace member with this exact email address.”
“Post this reviewed update to the confirmed channel after I approve it.”
Slack applies rate limits per API method, workspace and app, with tier-specific allowances and special rules for methods such as posting messages. Some history endpoints have additional rules for non-Marketplace apps. A 429 response supplies Retry-After, which should be followed instead of repeatedly reading the same channel.
