Google Analytics integration

Read authorised GA4 reports from a conversation

Query connected GA4 properties with read-only access and keep reporting-delay context next to the result.

The Google Analytics connector provides read-only access to GA4. It can list properties visible to the connected account, run a standard report with selected API dimension and metric names, and request realtime metrics. Standard reports support an explicit date range and a bounded row limit, making channel, landing-page or device comparisons reproducible.

Realtime and standard reporting answer different questions. Realtime covers activity from roughly the last 30 minutes, while standard reports are processed datasets for complete periods. The connector does not change property settings, audiences, events or attribution. It also does not translate an unavailable property into zero traffic; account access and property identifiers must be verified first.

Supported operations

  • List accessible GA4 properties
  • Read traffic reports
  • Read realtime visitor metrics

Current boundaries

  • Access is read-only.
  • Standard reports can be incomplete for roughly 24–48 hours.
  • Available data depends on the connected Google account.

How to connect

  1. 1Connect Google Analytics from the extension.
  2. 2Review the analytics.readonly permission.
  3. 3Choose which read operations may run.
Verified example

“Compare sessions by channel for the last seven complete days.”

Use synthetic or your authorised account data, then review the returned result in the conversation.

How to use Google Analytics reliably

  • Use complete days for trend comparisons. Google states that data processing can take 24–48 hours, so the newest day can change and should not be presented as a confirmed decline.
  • Dimensions and metrics use GA4 Data API names. An invalid combination should be corrected from the provider response rather than silently replacing the requested measure.
  • Realtime active users are not interchangeable with sessions or total users in a standard report. The answer should name the metric, property and exact date range it used.
  • Thresholding, consent settings, retention and property configuration can affect returned values. The connector reports Google’s processed data; it cannot reconstruct events that a property never collected or expose rows Google withholds from reports.

Prompt examples

“List the GA4 properties available to this account.”
“Compare sessions by default channel group for the last seven complete days.”
“Show page views by page path for the previous complete month, limited to 50 rows.”
“How many active users does this property report in realtime, and what window does that represent?”

Rate limits and freshness

The GA4 Data API uses property-based token quotas separated into Core, Realtime and Funnel categories, with different allowances for Standard and Analytics 360 properties. Query complexity affects token use. Reports should stay bounded and a resource-exhausted response should pause further calls instead of launching repeated variants.
